Installer upgrade

Posted in Development

The JCE Installer has had a bit of a make-over for 1.5.8. All JCE extensions - plugins, languages and plugin extensions - are now termed 'add-ons'

Add-ons can be installed either by uploading a package file (zip, tar etc) or from a file or folder already on the server (in Joomla!'s tmp directory for example), and JCE plugins can be installed from the JCE Plugins folder if necessary using the Search and Install tools.

Related Joomla! extensions, such as JCE MediaBox, can now also be installed and removed using the JCE Add-ons installer.

New Admin Widgets

Posted in Development

Some new widgets for JCE 1.5.8 in the JCE Groups Administration to make configuration easier. Examples in the this video include the Extension Mapper, Editable Select Lists, a new Colour Picker and Auto-complete on some input fields. A the end you can see the parameters for the new Fullpage plugin, which adds full page support to any content item, ie: inclusion of the <html>, <head>, <body> etc. elements. Very useful for Newletter components!

A new uploader in 1.5.8

The Camtasia video content presented here requires a more recent version of the Adobe Flash Player. If you are using a browser with JavaScript disabled please enable it now. Otherwise, please update your version of the free Flash Player by downloading here.

This example is using the HTML uploader 'engine'. Of the 6 available engines - HTML5, Silverlight, Flash, Yahoo Browserplus, Google Gears and HTML4, only HTML5 and Yahoo Browserplus support drag & drop, but all except HTML4 support multiple file selection.

HTML5 drag/drop support is only available in Firefox
