This is a minor update to fix a few issues in the Image Manager Extended, in particular errors when resizing or thumbnailing on upload where these options have been hidden in the upload dialog.
The Image Editor has undergone some extensive internal tweaks, changing the way images are saved and how transforms (resize, crop) are applied. This should hopefully help users who have been unable to use the editor due to some server restrictions. In addition, the Crop options now include fields to set custom width, height x and y values.

This release follows a rather lengthy beta and release candidate testing process, resulting in quite a long list of bug fixes. The extension has also had a general cleanup, with a number of methods optimized and updated and a few layouts cleaned up.
In addition to this we have also managed to reduce the size of the extension package (zip) by around 360kb by compressing css files and optimizing png and gif images and removing other redundant files. The zip package is now being used as the main distribution package.
Postgresql support has also been added (Joomla 3 only), but due to errors in the Joomla core, some items such as the Link Browser may not function as expected.
Thank you to everyone who helped in beta and release candidate testing.

The first release of 2013 is a tentative one. JCE 2.3.2 is being release as a beta version to iron out any issues with the bug fixes and changes introduced in this version.
This update includes quite a few bug fixes and a few useful additions.
New Stuff
The Clipboard plugin now includes routines to handle Footnotes when pasting from Office documents. Footnotes can be converted to anchors, unlinked (the link is removed but the text remains), or removed completely.
An option has been added to the Global Configuration to set behaviour when the encoding mode is set to UTF-8 - characters can remain in the utf-8 version or converted to the " ".
The Source Code Editor has been upgraded to CodeMirror 3. The CodeMirror project has seen significant changes and improvements over the last few months, in part due to its inclusion in the Adobe Brackets project.
The layout of the Help dialog has been improved with collapsible and resizable panes.
Bug Fixes
One of the main reasons for the beta release, a number of changes have been made to the code structure to remove Strict Standards errors, which many users have been reporting since the PHP 5.4 inclusion of E_STRICT in the E_ALL PHP error_reporting parameter.
Changes have been made to the filesystem functions to improve support for IIS filesystems, including support for UNC paths.
The Updates dialog now opens correctly from the "Updates Available" link in the Control Panel.
A full changelog will be published when JCE 2.3.2 "stable" is released.
Installation and Updating
Installation of a beta version on a production site is not recommended.
Instructions for installing JCE 2.3.1 are available here
JCE can also be updated from previous versions using the JCE Updater in Joomla! 1.5 and 2.5 or using the Joomla! Update Manager in Joomla! 2.5 and 3.0

A recent spate of hacks on Joomla sites has been reported recently and there are some suggestions that an exploit in an earlier version of JCE may have been used to carry out these attacks on some sites.
We were notified of this vulnerability by Secunia in May of this year and promptly released two updates to fix the issues :
http://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/news/item/jce-21-released
http://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/news/item/jce-211-released
All subsequant releases have included these fixes and no new vulnerabilities have been reported to us.
We urge all users to update JCE to the latest version as soon as possible, especially if you are using JCE 1.5 or any version before JCE 2.1.1
It is advisable to ensure that your version of Joomla and ALL extensions are kept up to date.
Checking for Updates
JCE supports the Joomla! Update Manager in Joomla! 2.5 and Joomal! 3.0 so you will be notified of any new version via the Update Manager. In Joomla! 1.5, 2.5 and 3.0 an update notification is also shown in the JCE Control Panel.
All JCE Editor updates include a release notification published on this site and are tweeted. You can subscribe to the JCE News Feed, or follow us on twitter.
Updating JCE
Updates can be done via the Joomla! Update Manager in Joomla! 2.5 and Joomla! 3.0 or using the Updates button in the JCE Control Panel in all Joomla! versions. You can also update by installing the new version using the Joomla! Installer.
Installation and update instructions are available here
An extra helping hand
If you are managing multiple Joomla! sites you may consider services like Admincredible or Watchful.li which have features to update Joomla! and installed extensions on multiple sites. joomla-security.com's audit tool can help you find and remove hacked files and keep your site up to date.
For general Joomla! secutiry issues, vist the Joomla! security forum

After a beta and release candidate testing phase (a big thank you to all testers!), JCE 2.3.0 "Stable" has been released.
This release marks the end of the 2.2.x stream and the beginning of official support for Joomla! 3.0. JCE 2.3.0 is now available for Joomla! 1.5, 2.5 and 3.0 as a single installation package.
What's new?
Some of the new stuff has already been mentioned in a previous beta release announcement, but to reiterate :
Administration UI changes
The JCE Administration has been refined a little bit, mostly to make it easier to support 3 Joomla! versions - eg: system modal dialogs are now used instead of custom dialogs, custom table styles removed - but a few small changes, such as replacing Yes/No select lists with radio lists make setting some parameters easier (especially when using fingers on a tablet!)
Drag & Drop Profile Ordering
Like content items in the Joomla! 3.0 Article Manager, JCE Editor Profiles can now be re-ordered by dragging and dropping them into their new position. This works on mobile devices too! You can still re-order by using the Order Up and Order Down buttons or by entering in the new order values as before.
Assign Profiles to Devices
A new "Device" option has been added to the Profiles Setup tab which allows you to specify the device - Desktop, Tablet, Phone - the profile is to be used on.
"Mobile" Toolbar Theme
An experimental "Mobile" Toolbar Theme has been added with bigger buttons. Of course this theme can be used on any device. This theme will be improved and refined as more tests are done on mobile devices.
In addition a sample "Mobile" profile has been included as an example of how one could use the Device assignment and Mobile toolbar theme.
Language Loading
All JCE language strings are now loaded via INI files, reducing the number of files loaded by the editor on startup and simplifying translation. We are in the process of setting up an official Transifex project for JCE (thanks to jonnydement).
What's not included?
We had previously mentioned converting all JCE Add-ons to Joomla! plugins, installed with the Joomla! Installer.
Initial work on this quickly produced a number of backwards compatibility issues that would have made the upgrade to JCE 2.3.0 difficult for many users, and the lack of some required features in Joomla! 1.5 would have still required JCE Add-ons to be installed with the JCE Installer.
This conversion has therefore been moved to JCE 3.0, where support for Joomla! 1.5 will be dropped.

This update fixes a few issues, adds support for Joomla! 3.0 (by removing use of the DS constant) and adds a Menu Assignment option - selecting a menu or multiple menu items in the MediaBox parameters will restrict mediabox to load only on pages assigned to those menu items.

This release fixes a few bugs and adds a few missing features, including :
Drag & Drop Upload support
Already included in the standard Image Manager, this now been included in the Image Manager Extended, with the added bonus of being able to resize the images on upload too!
"Always Include Dimensions"
Again, another option already available in the standard Image Manager, setting this parameter to "No" will allow images to be inserted without dimensions if they have not been changed from the original values.
Default Attribute Values
And the last feature also available in the Image Manager, these parameters allow setting of default values for some attributes like Classes, Styles, Directionality, ID and Long Description.
New Image Library
A new image library has been added - with support for PHP GD2 and PHP IMagick - for resizing and cropping images. As HTML5 Canvas has been shown to produce poor quality thumbnails and resized images due to a lack of any form of image interpolation, this library is used by default for all these operations. An option is available however to revert to HTML5 Canvas.
Coming soon to Image Manager Extended 2.1

Support for Joomla! 3.0 added
JCE 2.3 marks the beginning of support for Joomla! 3.
JCE now supports Joomla! 1.5, 2.5 and 3.0, and will continue to do so up until the release of JCE 3.0 when support for Joomla! 1.5 will be dropped.
Whats new?
Administration changes
The JCE Administration has been refined a little bit, mostly to make it easier to support 3 Joomla! versions - eg: system modal dialogs are now used instead of custom dialogs, custom table styles removed - but a few small changes, such as replacing Yes/No select lists with radio lists make setting some parameters easier (especially when using fingers on a tablet!)

Support for popups, Google Docs Viewer and drag&drop upload
This release adds support for Popups, the option to create file links for Google™ Docs Viewer and support for drag&drop upload in the editor window.
Popups
A popups tab has been added to the dialog so popups can be created directly from the File Manager. Currently only JCE MediaBox is supported.
Google™ Docs Viewer
Links for Google™ Docs Viewer can now be created, with the option to create a file link, or embed the document as an iframe.

Drag & Drop Upload
Drag & Drop upload was introduced in JCE 2.2.2 but required support fro each individual plugin. The File Manager now supports drag&drop uplaod for its supported file types, automatically creating links on upload completion, including any layout (icon, date, size) or Google™ Docs Viewer options as set in the File Manager parameters.
Installation and Updating
The File Manager can be updated using the JCE Updates dialog (a valid subscription is required) or downloaded installed using the JCE Installer.

This update fixes a few bugs and introduces a few new features in the JCE Administration. In addition the "Paste" plugin has been renamed to "Clipboard" as it now includes some control over the "Cut" and "Copy" buttons too.
In an effort to provide support for other databases in Joomla! 2.5 and later, all queries used by the editor have been converted to use the JDatabaseQuery method introduced in Joomla! 2.5.
UPDATE : JCE 2.2.8.1 fixes an error when opening the Paste or Paste as Plain Text dialog and an SQL error in the JCE Installer in Joomla! 1.5
UPDATE : JCE 2.2.8.2 fixes a SQL error when ordering the Profiles and Users lists.
UPDATE : JCE 2.2.8.3 fixes an SQL error when upgrading the Profiles table to add a new column, some translation issues and a bug where the Border option would always be checked in the Image Manager etc.
UPDATE : JCE 2.2.8.4 has been released to deal with a few bugs not fixed in the previous updates.
Check out the Changelog for a full list of bug fixes and updates.
Administration changes
There are four notable changes in the JCE Administration in this version :
Option to set plugin buttons
Some plugins like Clipboard, Tables and XHTMLXtras include multiple buttons. It is now possible to select which buttons are displayed in the editor toolbar for each plugin.

Add-ons enabled by checkbox
Add-ons for each plugin such as JCE MediaBox popups, Joomla! Links etc. were previously enabled/disabled by selecting an option from a select list. This has now been replaced with a checkbox. A slight change to the layout of these add-ons also makes it easier to distinguish the parameters of each layout.

Option to set a default popup
You can now set a default popup option for the Link dialog, Image Manager Extended etc.

Additional default parameters for some plugins
The Link and Image Manager plugins now include options to set default values for all form elements in the dialog.

Onwards to JCE 2.3
Work continues on JCE 2.3, which will be compatible with Joomla! 1.5, 2.5 and 3.0. We hope to have this release available some time around the end of October.
Installation and Updating
Updating to JCE 2.2.8 from existing JCE 2.x versions can be done using the JCE Updater, or the Joomla! Update Manager in Joomla! 2.5. Alternatively, follow the Installation Instructions for a new install or update.

This update fixes a few bugs from JCE 2.2.6, includes some Administration changes, fixes in language handling as well as reducing the number of language files to translate.
UPDATE : JCE 2.2.7.2 fixes an error when saving after inserting WMV or MOV files and a bug that prevented individual plugin parameters (eg: File Directory Path) being applied.
UPDATE : JCE 2.2.7.1 fixes an error when using JCE with extensions that do not load JModel (Widgetkit etc.)
Administration changes
There are two notable changes in the JCE Administration in the this version :
Button Legend removed
The "Button Legend" has been removed from the Profiles "Features & Layout" tab. Each button in the Editor Layout now includes a tooltip containing the button description.

Users list changed
The "Users" list in the Profiles "Setup" tab has been changed to make it easier to remove individual users. Each user "item" in the list contains a delete icon to remove it if required.

Language Changes
A number of javascript language files have been removed from the package. This is a step towards reducing the complexity in translating JCE, and as all languages will be loaded using the INI format used by Joomla! in JCE 2.3 helps prepare for this change.
In addition to this, some changes have been made to fix issues with missing language files - the editor will default to English if some core language files are missing, and for each plugin that has a missing language file.
Onwards to JCE 2.3
Work continues on JCE 2.3, which will be compatible with Joomla! 1.5, 2.5 and 3.0 (Although this version may not be available when Joomla! 3.0 Stable is released, we hope to have it out as soon after that as possible).
All Add-ons (Plugins, Extensions and Languages) in JCE 2.3 will be installed using the Joomla! Installer in JCE 2.3. The JCE Installer will be removed. This is intended to simplify the administration of the editor and make creating language packs and add-ons for JCE easier.
Check out the Changelog for a full list of bug fixes and updates.
Installation and Updating
Updating to JCE 2.2.7 from existing JCE 2.x versions can be done using the JCE Updater, or the Joomla! Update Manager in Joomla! 2.5. Alternatively, follow the Installation Instructions for a new install or update.

OK....JCE 2.2.5 was a bit of a disaster, or to be a little less harsh, a mis-step. Perhaps the "force" was not with me this last week. Despite numerous updates over the last 2 days, new bugs kept appearing. I blame you, dear user, for being so good at finding and reporting them. Thanks for that.
So, in an effort to close the chapter on JCE 2.2.5, and get away from those 4 digit version numbers, I give you JCE 2.2.6!
Please, be gentle...
