One of the best features of JCE is its ability to be extended with plugins. The JCE Editor installs with a number of useful plugins ready to be used when the editor has loaded, like the Table plugin, Image Manager or Advanced Link.
Most plugins are represented in the editor layout by a button or collection of buttons which open a dialog, although some, like the Media Support plugin, don't have a button or a dialog but are activated when a specific action is performed.
The plugins that are included with the standard JCE installation are 'core' plugins whic cannot be uninstalled, but they can be unpublished, or removed from a group layout.
Additional plugins are available for installation that add features and abilities to the editor, such as:
- uploading, browsing for and inserting media files (flash, quicktime etc.) with the ,
- inserting links to files, documents etc. using the ,
- creating snippets of code for re-use in your editing with the ,
- or resizing, rotating and thumbnailing images in the
Unlike the JCE Editor Plugin and Administration Component, these plugins are not freely available and require an active subscription to download
