Uploading an image with the Image Manager Extended follows the same procedure as uploading a file with any of the Manager plugins, using a similar dialog. The Image Manager Extended, however, has a few extra options for resizing images on upload and generating thumbnails of the uploaded image.
A thumbnail is a smaller version of the original image and is most commonly used as the link to a popup of the larger image. It is also a convenient way of creating a smaller version of an image for any other purpose.

File - The file to be uploaded from the local machine. Name - The name of the uploaded file. This is automatically generated from the file chosen from the local machine. The file name is automatically cleaned. Resize - This options specifies the parameters to be used when resizing the file. Disabled by default, Resizing can be enabled by checking the Resize checkbox. It can also be disabled or set to automatic in the Image Manager Extended configuration. The first field is the size (in pixels) that you would like the largest side of the image to be resized to. For example, if the image is a 800px x 600px image, using a resize value of 600px will resize the image to 600px x 450px The Quality select list is the jpeg quality value (in percent) of the final image. This value can affect file size. The checkbox activates or deactivates resizing. If resizing is disable in the plugins configuration, this checkbox will be disabled. If set to automatic, this checkbox will be checked but disableThumbnail - This options specifies the parameters to be used when creating a thumbnail of the file. Disabled by default, Thumbnailing can be enabled by checking the Thumbnail checkbox. It can also be disabled or set to automatic in the Image Manager Extended configuration. The first field is the size (in pixels) that you would like the largest side of the generated thumbnail to be. Using the setting in the dialog above, an 800px x 600px image would generate a thumbnail of 150px x 113px The Quality select list is the jpeg quality value (in percent) of the thumbnail image. This value can affect file size. The checkbox activates or deactivates thumbnailing. If thumbnailing is disabled in the plugins configuration, this checkbox will be disabled. If set to automatic, this checkbox will be checked but disabled. The 'Proportional' select list allows you to select the thumbnailing method. Proportional generates a thumbnail of proportional dimensions, ie: as mentioned above a 150px x 113px thumbnail will be genertated from an 800px x 600px image. Square generates a square thumbnail of the chosen dimensions, ie: a 150px x 150px image. This image will be generated by resizing and cropping the image. Overwrite Existing File and Create Unique File specify how the user would like to treat the uploaded file if a file of the same name already exists in the target directory. The existing file can either be overwritten with the new one, or the new file file can be uploaded with the label '_copy' appended to its name.
