Upload Dialog

The Upload Dialog, opened by clicking the Upload icon upload, is used to upload or move files from the users local machine to a chosen directory on the web server hosting the users site. This dialog is a standard feature of all the Manager plugins, and in the case of the Image Manager Extended, contains extended functionality.

upload

This dialog uses the standard 'floating window' of all the Manager dialogs. It can be moved around the screen by dragging on the grey header bar, and closed by clicking on the X button in the top right corner.

There are 4 main areas in the dialog that affect the upload procedure:

  1. The Browse section contains buttons to Add and Clear files from the Upload Queue. Click Add to locate the file on  your local machine and add it to the queue. Click Clear to remove all files from the queue.
  2. The Options section contains additional options or actions for the upload process.
    1. Action if file Exists - Select what action will be taken if a file with the same name already exists in the destination folder. The existing file can either be overwritten with the new one, or the new file file can be uploaded with the label '_copy' appended to its name.
  3. The Queue section lists all files in the current upload queue. Files can be renamed by clicking on the name or on the Rename button rename. Files can be removed from the queue by clicking on the delete button delete.
  4. The Upload button starts the upload and files are processed in queue order. The Cancel buttons closes the Uplaod Dialog.

This is a 'modal dialog'. It must be closed before any other actions not directly related to the dialog can be executed.

To upload a file:

  • Click the 'Add' button and locate the target file on your computer.
  • The file will be added to the queue. You can edit the file name by clicking on it or by clicking on the Rename button to the right of the file name. The name can only contain the characters a-z, A-Z, 0-9, period( . ), underscore( _ ) and dash ( - ). Spaces are converted to underscores, all other characters are removed.
  • Select the method for dealing with existing files of the same name.
  • Click the Upload button.
  • The dialog remains open so that further files can be uploaded. Press the close button if no further files are to be uploaded.
