Joomla! Compatatbility

JCE 2.x is for Joomla! 1.5.x, Joomla! 1.6.x and Joomla! 1.7.x

Browsers

The minimum recommended browser versions are IE8, Safari 5, Chrome 10+, Opera 10+ and FF 3.5+. The latest versions of all browsers is recommended. Earlier browser versions may work as required but performance and stability is not guaranteed.

Server-side / hosting requirements

JCE has the same server-side requirements as Joomla! and functions best with safe-mode off.

JCE 2.x requires PHP 5.2.4 or later.

The Image Manager Extended requires a browser with Canvas support and may required the GD2 php library.

The Spellchecker requires libcurl and may require mbstring if the Google Spellcheck option is used, otherwise PSpell or ASpell.

The JCE Updater requires OpenSSL support in PHP.

Other requirements

An understanding of the Joomla! administrative functions is required, especially the installtion and general use of Plugins and Components.

To use the popup features of the Image Manager Extended, Link and Media Manager, JCE MediaBox is recommended.
