As of JCE Editor 1.5.3 the show/hide link will only be visible if the AdvCode icon advcode is in the Editor Layout.

To do this,

  1. go to the JCE Group Manager and click on 'Default' in the list.
  2. Click on the Layout tab.
  3. Drag the AdvCode icon advcode into the Editor Layout.
  4. Click Save.
