JCE Editor Mambot 1.1.x Manual Installation
If for some reason you are unable to install the JCE Editor Mambot using the Joomla! Mambot/Plugin installer, you can perform a manual installation. This will require ftp access to you site to upload the mambot's files.
Step 1 - Upload the files
Extract all the files from the Jce Editor Mambot zip file to a location on your hard drive making sure you preserve all folder paths. You should be left with 2 files and a folder; jce.php, jce.xml and a folder called 'jce'.
Using an ftp client, log into your site and transfer these 2 files and the folder (including all its contents) to the mambots/editors directory locayed in your Joomla! site root directory.
Step 2 - Create a new Mambot
Log into the Administration section of your Joomla! site and click on the 'Mambots->Site Mambots' menu item.
Click the 'New' button. Follow the steps in the movie below:
- Type in the name of the mambot in the 'Name' field, eg: JCE Editor Mambot.
- Select 'editors' from the 'Folder' list.
- Type in 'jce' in the 'Mambot file' field.
- Click the 'Save' button in the top right corner.
After completing these steps, the JCE Editor Mambot will be installed but may not be selected as your default Joomla! editor. To do this:
- Go to Site->Global Configuration.
- Select JCE Editor Mambot from the 'Default WYSIWYG Editor' select list.
- Click 'Save'
It may also be necessary to assign the editor as the default to each individual user.
