JCE Pro 2.9.89 released

This maintenance update addresses a selection of bugs and issues discovered and reported since the previous release. It also extends <img> element support with several new attributes, and refines the Link dialog behavior by removing the default alias value from Article, Contact and Weblink links.

New <img> Element Attributes

The following HTML attributes are now supported on the <img> element within JCE Pro:

AttributeDescription
crossorigin Controls CORS requests for the image (e.g., anonymous, use-credentials).
elementtiming Enables element timing API entries for performance measurement.
fetchpriority Hints browser about image fetch urgency (high, low, auto).
referrerpolicy Specifies which referrer information to include with requests (e.g., no-referrer, origin).

Link Alias Changes

The alias value from an Article, Tag or Weblink link generated by the Link dialog is no longer included by default. This aligns the link output with that generated by the Joomla Article and Tag buttons. If alias values are require, it can be enabled with the Add Article Alias, Add Weblink Alias or Add Tag Alias option in Editor Profiles -> Plugin Parameters -> Link.

File Directory Path Enhancements in JCE Pro 2.9.90

Introduced in JCE Pro 2.9.88, this update includes a backward compatibility layer for the File Directory Path in preparation for the enhancements coming in JCE Pro 2.9.90. Consequently, if you upgrade to 2.9.90 and later need to revert to an earlier version, you should install JCE Pro 2.9.89 to maintain full compatibility.

JCE Pro 2.9.90 will allow you to define multiple File Directory Paths, each with an optional label. Path variables are still supported for dynamic values. In the Image Manager, File Browser, and other dialogs, these paths will be displayed as a list of folders named by their labels.

A beta of JCE Pro 2.9.90 is available for testing. Visit the development page to download the beta, and subscribe to receive notifications whenever new updates are posted.
