JCE Pro 2.9.99.2 is a supplemental maintenance update to 2.9.99, addressing a number of issues reported since its release - including fixes for link editing, editor height in Joomla 6.1, smart quote shortcuts, and Word paste behaviour, along with an improvement to the Media Field for sites with multiple configured directory stores.
As previously announced, this remains the final feature release in the 2.x series - JCE Pro 3.0 is on its way, with the a beta available for testing.
Please Note: JCE Pro 2.9.99 is compatible with Joomla 3, 4, 5 and 6, and does not require the Backwards Compatibility plugin in Joomla 5 or Joomla 6.
Media Field - expanded directory access
The Media Field's mediafolder parameter now supports a : prefix to target any configured File Directory Path entry directly, rather than always resolving relative to the first. This makes it straightforward to configure separate Media Fields for different directory stores - for example, one field pointing to a files directory for PDFs and another to images/videos for video content. Existing configurations without the : prefix are unaffected. If no matching entry is found, the path falls back to relative behaviour.
Link editing improvements
A number of fixes address cursor behaviour when editing link text. Clicking at the start of anchor text, or positioning the cursor at the start or end of a link, now correctly keeps the cursor inside the anchor. Left/Right Arrow at the boundary moves the cursor out of the link as expected.
