JCE Pro 2.7.0 will drop support for Joomla 1.5 and 2.5 and add support for Joomla 4.
Although editor functionality remains largely the same as 2.6.x, a number of changes have been made to the Editor Administration
- The adminstration component has been re-written, making better use of the Joomla API so as to support Joomla 3 and Joomla 4.
- Editor parameters are now rendered using the JForm library, requiring significant changes to all bundled editor plugins, and various custom fields and layouts to mirror the parameter options in JCE 2.6.x.
- The File Browser is now displayed inline rather than in a modal popup.
The potential few new bugs, given the number of changes to the Administration Component, is significant. Please test and report back via the forum. Your help is greatly appreciated, and will speed up the eventual release of a stable JCE Pro 2.7.0
As Joomla 4 is still in the alpha development stage, the editor UI will need updating throughout this period to create a stable and compatible UI for both Joomla versions. Priority will however be given to Joomla 3, as a stable JCE Pro 2.7.0 is likely to be released before a late beta or stable Joomla 4.
