This update fixes a number of issues reported since the last update, and adds a few workflow improvements:
Disable the Template Manager dropdown menu
A Template List option is now available in the Template Manager parameters to disable the Template List dropdown menu on the Template Manager toolbar button. The menu is enabled by default and is populated with any Template Items specefied, or with html or text files found in the File Directory Path.
Embed media files with drag & drop
Some media file items - mp3, oga, m4a, mp4, m4v, ogg, webm, ogv - can now be uploaded and embedded into the editor using drag & drop.
This is a maintenance release that fixes a few issues reported since the last update, most notably the removal of a change made to the File Browser that would allow a passed in "folder" value to be used as the current base directory, as this was reported to cause a number of issues with various implementations of the MediaField across Joomla components.
This release fixes a number of bugs reported by users since the release of JCE Pro 2.8.5
In addition to these fixes, a few improvements and new features have been added.
Adaptive Style Reset and Guidelines Colours
A new Auto option has been added to the High Contrast Mode parameter (previously called Editor Styles Reset) in the Editor Global Configuration. This option is now the default, and if set, the editor content will be displayed using a high contrast style - black text on a white background - when the contrast of the template's text colour and background colour does not meet a minimum level of usablity (WCAG Contrast level 3:1).
Drag & Drop Upload of Pages with Markdown Conversion
The Template Manager now supports drag & drop insertion of pages - html, txt and md files - directly into the editor. The file will be uploaded with processing and conversion - including markdown to HTML - applied.
EXIF Image Description
A useful little addition for those users who like to work with the EXIF data of their images, the Image Manager Extended can now use the Image Description property, if set, for the Image Description (alt) value of an inserted image. The value is also applied to images inserted directly into the editor with drag & drop, like in the example below.
A keyboard shortcut for Soft Hyphen
You can now use CTRL + SHIFT + - to insert a soft hyphen character in any browser on Windows or MacOS.
