I see the new TinyMCE has new, more contemporary icons, will these be implemented on JCE soon.

JCE 2.8.0 includes a new "Retina" toolbar theme using font icons. You can download a beta for testing here - https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/downloads/editor/pro/development
