Limit images stored in /images
I've got a client who keeps dumping everything into the root of the image directory despite having nice clean alternatives set up. Is there any way I can restrict a users ability to upload documents to /images but still let them access what's there along with the subdirectories??
Currently, in the JCE Profile, Editor Parameters > filesystem I have the :
File Directory Path: blank
Directory Filter: +images, +documents, +video
Filesystem: Joomla
Allow root access - Yes with all folders selected except the previously mentioned.

Unfortunately not. At the moment, access to a directory allows read and write access, so you can't limit any actions on a particular path.
Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean everybody isn't out to get you.
