Unfortunately, no icons are shown for the individual menu items. What do I have to do so that the icons are displayed?

JCE uses font icons in the .woff format for UI icons and the editor toolbar. You may have a setting in your htaccess file which restricts loading of media (images, video, fonts etc.) to certain filetypes, and .woff is not included in this list.
If this is the case, you will need to edit this htaccess rule to add .woff
