Everybody will be able to see its contents. Do not include usernames, passwords or any other sensitive information.

A recent JCE change started displaying scripts in the actual editor as opposed to just the HTML. Is there a way to hide these in the editor view?

In Editor Profiles -> Editor Parameters -> Advanced, set Enable Code Blocks to No.
