JCEPro was showing blank under Components list, so I manually reinstalled JCE Editor and Mediabox. Now none of my images are showing JCE tooltips and there's nothing under mediabox settings either for tooltips. Help!

Tooltips were remove in JCE MediaBox 2.1 and now will use the core Joomla tooltips for existing "legacy" tooltips.
Please post a link to an example.

So how do I get my existing 'legacy' tooltips (ie jcetooltips) to work with 'core Joomla tooltips'? Or do I have the enormous task of re-editing every tooltip? Is there a tutorial?

Please install JCE MediaBox 2.1.2 RC - https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/downloads/mediabox/development
The tooltips should automatically be converted. If they are not, then please post a link to an example article containing a tooltip.

I have installed 2.1.2rc but it does not look as though the tooltips have been converted, but I am not sure If I have right tooltips plug-in installed. The tooltips text , instead of being under the cursor, are shown either above each image, or above and to the left.

I have added a set of default tooltip styles, as your template does not seem to have any (Joomla 3 uses the default Bootstrap 2.3 tooltip styles)

Yes indeed. It's just css, so you can add stuff to your template stylesheet to override the defaults, which look like this - https://github.com/widgetfactory/jce-mediabox/blob/2.x/css/src/tooltip.css

OK, I see, thanks. I prefer tooltips to be under the cursor, not attached to the top of the image. Not sure enough with css to know how to do this.

I've knocked together a simple tooltip plugin that uses similar positioning to the old JCE MediaBox tooltip. You can download it here - https://github.com/widgetfactory/wf-tooltip
If you are also using JCE MediaBox 2, you will need to order the Tooltip plugin so that it is before JCE MediaBox 2, so that it processes the legacy tooltips first.
