For my website I have 2 JCE profiles: one for me as Super User and a second one for all other users who are not Super Users.
I spent quite a while to find out, that obviously the order of these profiles is decisive for the profile settings to be working or not.
The Super User profile needs to be on top of the list of profiles.
I find this behaviour very non-transparent and furthermore: not logical.
Is my recognition really true?
And is this behaviour really intentional?

Let's assume we had 3 or even more JCE profiles for all kinds of users: which logic should I be following?

Thank you and kind regards
Chris

Yes.

The profiles are assessed in their order, based on the way they are assigned in the Setup tab, eg: by Area, Device, Component, User Group. The first profile to match the environment the user is in, based on that assignment, is the one that is used.

The profile with the most specific assignment, ie: the one accessed by the least number of users, must go first, then each profile in order based on the assignment.

So for example, the Super User only profile - ie: the one assigned to only 1 user or 1 user group - should go first, then the profile assigned to multiple usergroups or users next, then the one accessed by all users (which would include the Super User etc. if unassigned) would be last.

Bear in mind that a profile might be assigned to may usergroups, but only 1 component (for example a newsletter component), so this may be the most specific, and therefore should be first.
