Hi there,

We are due to release our site in a few hours and I have just started linking our PDF files and both of the files I have uploaded and then set as links within Joomla Articles using JCE Editor are showing up as a 403 Forbidden error?

http://110.173.134.190/~gscdevelop/see-do/our-natural-beauties/27-see-do/our-natural-beauties/49-walking-and-biking

See both hyperlinked items in the body of this page to replicate the issue.

I have no knowledge on what this might be or how to resolve it - can anyone please help as a matter of urgency?

Many thanks in advance!
Sarah

This sounds like a server restriction, perhaps an htaccess rule, that is preventing linking to pdf files, or perhaps files in a specific folder.

Are you able to access other file types, eg: images, in that folder?

Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean everybody isn't out to get you.

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for responding!

I checked holder permissions for both the folder I'm working with and all those above it and all permissions are 0755 while file permissions are 0644. It's been a while since I've been in web, but from memory that's the most common permission and things should be working...

I tried to view the file using the preview button in the backend File Viewer for JCE and got the same error in the pop up, then I uploaded an image and have tried to preview it, and although it's not giving me the error, it's just sitting there trying the load with the loading spinner...

I'll try to get onto our server support this morning and see if they can hep pinpoint the issue!

Issue resolved - it was an Admin Tools issue! Thanks!
