Is there are way to limit the number of characters allowed for the Title of an article?

The Title field is part of the Joomla Article Manager, and not under the control of JCE.

I don't think there is an option in the Joomla Article Manager to do this, and there doesn't appear to be an extension available to do this either. I can only find this old Joomla forum post about it - https://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?t=890544
