My use-case is that i use joomla templates as templates for emails that go out on my system. these emails have images in them and links. either can be tags that i replace in a plugin and either could be a path OUTSIDE OF the path of the joomla site.
For the emails to work when they are opened outside of joomla, i need the full url specified. but for the links, i need a relative url because the tag includes the full url. for example:
<img href='https:/http://testlocation.skyrun.com/image.png'> needs to stay absolute.
but <img href='{?property___image?}'> needs to stay relative (it includes the domain, which may or may not be testlocation.skyrun.com/)
so profiles don't work... and the two options for jce seem to be all or nothing regarding urls. there is no 'leave it how i type it' option.
(i used to be able to fake out jce by typing https://domain.com (vs. http) but that doesn't seem to work any longer as you remove either http or https if it's the same as the current path).
update: i put in option convert_urls: false into the editor global configuration and that did the trick. adding a 'none' 3rd choice to 'relative url = yes/no/none' that sets this may be a helpful option for some with this 'leave my urls alone thank you very much' need.

thanks for the quick reply. tried to find some info on what mixed_urls does, but couldn't find any on tinymce, google or the jce site searching. is there a description for what that option does? the convert_urls:false seems to not update, which is that i think i need.

It is unique to JCE and as yet undocumented.
You can see the nuts 'n bolts of it here -

Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean everybody isn't out to get you.

OMG OMG OMG (sorry, I'm being a bit over-dramatic I know.
I have spent months going back and forth trying to make a component that uses the editor to create email content that uses template {tags} that will convert to absolute urls and then there is content that we need to manually specify the url for...so when we used our domain in the url, the relative url option would strip it out, and if we left absolute as the option all of our {tags} would get converted.
This fixed our problem!! It needs to be broadcast around the world!! (again, drama queen right now)...but I am so ecstatic that I found this thread through a last ditch effort of rewording my google search!! I have had several components that do different things with their own message content. For page content in J! relative is best, but for components that are rendering content to be sent external to the site, absolute is a must.
Thank you!
