If I edit or save an article with the new version 2.6.9, all “clear both” settings of the images are gone. All images will be messed up.
I tried this:
1. If I re-enter clear both in an image than clear both will be removed after saving again.
2. Only when I temporarily add a new character after an image than clear both is not deleted. But this is time-consuming of course and not a solution.
Can you solve this quickly; I can not edit articles anymore now…

The Clear option is added using a <br /> tag, which can only be present within the container paragraph if it is not the last item in the paragraph. For example:
will retain the <br /> tag, but
will not.
This is basically because a <br /> has no effect when it is the last element in the container. This has always been the case, and it not a new introduction.
So, to keep the break and clear, the items you are wanting to clear must be in the same parent container as the image, and must be after the image.
<p><img src="/images/winter.jpg" alt="winter" width="320" height="212" style="float: left;" /><br style="clear: both;" />Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet</p>
will retain the <br /> tag, but
<p><img src="/images/winter.jpg" alt="winter" width="320" height="212" style="float: left;" /><br style="clear: both;" /></p>
will not.

Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean everybody isn't out to get you.
I have used the JCE version from 2013 and the new version is not compatible since all the images will be messed up now. So I can't use the new PRO version which I bought.
Your answer is too technical to use, people want just add “clear both” without concerning about container paragraphs etc. That is what I did before and it has worked fine.
Of course, I can’t edit all my 1000+ images by hand because JCE is not compatible. Unfortunately I have to return to the old version now. Can you solve the problem?

Any changes the editor might make would only happen when you edit an article. if existing articles are showing a change when being viewed, when they have not been edited, then some other process is causing the issue, not JCE. Please post a link to an article that is being affected in this way.

Yes, the problem is only with newly edited articles.
The articles where created with the JCE version from 2013, which I have bought.
I want to edit articles now with the new PRO version without repairing the incompatible image aligns issue myself. This is very time-consuming. The PRO version should fix this incompatible issue itself automatically.
Or there should be a program that would fix the database so that the PRO version accepts the data from the earlier JCE versions.

Hi,
see RegularLabs Extentions: DB Replacer.
This program can do these changes directly in the DB. But be careful, always make a db-backup(akeeba-backup or mySQL) before any change to the db is made.

I have looked at the example article on your site and I have made the following observations:
1. You don't need to add the Left alignment to the image as it is inside a paragraph on it's own, so it will will be aligned left by default in relation to the paragraphs below it. This makes the clear:both redundant. You can see this in the example article which I have edited to remove the alignment.
The point here is: Instead of using float and clear, place the image in its own paragraph.
2. You image is being processed by a script in the front-end (Highslide?) which is adding a <figure> tag around it. Even if the <br /> was retained, this change would make the <br /> redundant.

Thank you for your help.
1. >> The point here is: Instead of using float and clear, place the image in its own paragraph.
This is not a working solution for me, the image alignment of the new JCE should work as before, since I can’t change paragraphs for all articles that I’m go to edit in the future…
I don’t understand this paragraph issue well
2. I have test the paragraph issue, I made an article “test” with the image inside the paragraph, but is doesn’t work on my PC.
3. Which article have you edit? The article images in
<How to safely test the Panasonic microwave oven inverter HV power supply>
and
<How to safely test the Panasonic microwave oven inverter HV power supply (2) >
are still not aligned well (maybe I have different JCE settings)
4. Note that I use Mavik thumbnails too.

If the image is in a paragraph, and the text/content you want to display below it is in another paragraph, then you do not need to align the image or use a clear, eg:
<p><img src="/images/responsive/winter.jpg" alt="winter" width="200" /></p>
<p>One morning, when Gregor Samsa woke from troubled dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a horrible vermin.</p>

Hi Ryan,
I will delete all instances of style="float: left;" with search and replace. So this is solved.
By the way, I remember why I used <align left> and <clear both>.
Some years ago, this was needed to align images with captions well , if I remember correctly. And since then I continued this setting, what is not correct I see now.
But now there is another problem:
Images with caption that were aligned side by side are aligned vertical now.
What has to be done to align them side by side again?
Images without caption are easy to align side by side.

Hi Ryan,
Aligning side by side works with setting the left image <align left>; I hope this is the right way to do:
http://www.avdweb.nl/tech-tips/panasonic-hv-psu.html
But the images are not aligned well vertical in Google Chrome (one line different height), but in JCE preview it seems ok

It looks like this is caused by styles and classes added by the extension you are using to create popups on the images.
