Hi,
Is there a way to put an image with cation in a figure tag as joomla does it since v3? The code is much cleaner, perfect responsive, more accessible (https://idpf.github.io/a11y-guidelines/content/xhtml/figures.html) and w3c compliant (https://www.w3.org/TR/html5/grouping-content.html#the-figure-element).
JCE image manger code:
joomla image manager code:
I use JCE for years now, but for images I still prefer Joomla image manager, because of reasons above. If it's not possible yet, please think about a step forward? You could implement a switch to choose if the old or new version should be use.
Regards,
Stefan

Please try JCE Pro 2.6.27 RC6 - https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/downloads/editor/item/jce-pro-dev
New captions will be created with the <figure> and <figcaption> tags.

Thank you very much, Ryan. I just tried it and it works great! Very close to what I wish.
Please allow me to add two suggestions:
1. It would be great we could set the caption directly in 'image manager extended' window. Similar as in Joomla standard image manager. This would save two clicks.
2. I prefer less code, or having an option which code should be added.
In my tests I got

But it's great as it is already. Looking forward for the final version of JCE Pro 2.6.27.
Best regards,
Stefan

The styles added to the <figure> and <figcaption> tag are required to make the caption responsive across all browsers. Some templates include css styles for the <figure> element to achieve this, but this is not guaranteed, so the inline styles are necessary.

That would be a nice feature.
The ability to have a check in the Image Manager to wrap the image into a figure tag and add a figcaption.
Please don't add JCE inline styling... it's my job as a template builder to make it responsive.

Hi @Ryan#
It would be great if you can add an option to get rid of all the inline styling you are adding.
I only need a clean markup. No need for your class, style nor width attributes in figure, figcaption nor img tag.
Only the option to add my own class to figure is required.
Is that possible?
regards,
Hans

The use if the <figure> tag for Captions was replaced again with the <span> tag, as the <figure> tag cannot be nested in paragraphs, and therefore cannot be set alongside existing text without additional markup.
I am looking into expanding the <figure> Format option, so that applying a <figure> to an image etc. using the Format list, automatically creates a <figcaption> tag in which the caption can be typed.
