Yes, you can assign them a specific folder using a variable in the File Directory Path, eg:
will restrict them to a sub-folder in the images folder with their username, eg: images/joeblogs

images/$username

Yes, I saw that, but I want them to be able to access any sub-folder, just not fill the root folder with images. Basically, we have a newsroom with multiple subfolders broken up with events, news, stock photos, etc. But some, who will be left unnamed are unable to understand not to put images in the root folder, but in the proper subfolder.
So I can't just restrict them to images/subfolder because they need to also access images/subfolder2.
Would be convenient for this situation to have a view only access for a folder, but I could see that being recursive to sub-folders... idk, maybe just need an app that gives them a slap when they try to upload an image to the wrong folder.

Unfortunately this is not currently possible and I can't think of a configuration that will achieve what you want. Perhaps a little bit of user education of some kind is the best approach.

Hi there,
I think this is awesome. (and now can guess what is coming but...
but... is it possible to assign two different folders to user accounts e.g.
In that way the users can find pictures in their own folder (/blog) ánd in the folder /general.
Thanx,
Thom

Unfortunately this is not currently possible, but it will be in JCE 3 when new filesystem options are introduced. The bad news however is that JCE 3 will only be released some time next year.
