Greetings,
I just upgraded to JCE Pro and love the advanced media manager, but there’s one option we use that we have to add in by hand-editing the link after setting up a YouTube embed with JCE, which makes it less useful: YouTube allows a flag in the URL of “modestbranding=1” which removes their logo/link from the control bar. We’re not so concerned with the logo (though some are), but this also makes it less likely that a user will click that and be taken to YouTube and away from our site.
The format is detailed here: https://developers.google.com/youtube/player_parameters
(developers . google . com / youtube / player_parameters , in case I can’t post links)
Basically it just would need to be inserted as the first parameter in the URL.
Is this something you would consider adding, or are there plans to add this option, along with those you already support like Show Controls?
Thanks!
Brian

I think the best option here would be to add an option to create custom parameters of any type, to avoid having too many parameters displayed.
I will look into this for the next update.
If this is your requirement (it doesn't appear to be necessary to have it as the first parameter), you would need to add this to the url manually.

Sorry, it doesn't need to be the first argument actually. I just tried it in a few positions and found that it was a case of bad documentation... Inserting arbitrary params at the end of the URL would work fine.
If you could also allow setting the default for this in the profile control panel, to be used on new inserts, that would be really helpful for us!
Also I have noticed that if we edit an existing YouTube video in JCE with the adv media manager, the options shown on the Advanced tab are not the settings that are currently on the page, they are instead the defaults. So it's not showing the settings as currently set, and just viewing the video and then saving again will change these options to the defaults again. Just wondering if this is intentional?
(When I change the settings on the Advanced tab, it does save them correctly to the URL in the code, so that part works fine.)
Thanks very much,
-Brian

Thanks for the quick response! This version seems to pick up some formatting and added it to the URL parameters, which doesn't work (actually it kind of works, but the preview image is smaller than the iframe, and I'd be concerned we could be triggering a lot of "bad request" notices at Youtube):
(sorry, I can't figure out why the code tag isn't working for me in this forum... will do my best to paste in what I'm seeing)...

hmm, I can't figure out how to post HTML here, if you have any advice let me know...
In summary though, both the Class from the Advanced tab, and the iframe class mce-item-media, are being turned into custom parameters when I select an existing video and edit it, and then those parameters are being rewritten as URL parameters, which kind of works but causes the preview image to be the wrong size and sends a bunch of stuff in the YouTube request that isn't valid.
thanks!

Sorry to say, I'm still seeing the same problem.
Do you have an idea why I can't attach screenshots or paste code here in the forums? I'd like to show you what I'm seeing on our dev site...
thanks!

You can attach images using the Upload Files button in the Attachments tab below post text area. Files must be jpg, png, zip, jpeg and less than 256Kb in size.
Alternatively, you can insert a url to an offsite file using the image button in the toolbar when creating the post.

Hi Ryan,
I think I've found an easy way to reproduce what I'm seeing - basically the problem is there when editing anything that has options turned on.
Here is a test with 3 youtube frames inserted with JCEPro.
- All have our defaults checked in Media Options: Show controls, Enable Privacy Mode, and Show Info.
- The first frame, I simply entered a youtube URL and saved.
- The second, I entered the custom "modest branding=1" parameter.
- The third, I set the Alignment on the File tab to Center.
All 3 saved OK when I first created the frame. But, selecting each of them for editing, even without changing anything, caused JCEPro to add new arguments to the HTML in the Code view of the editor.
- frame 1 URL changed from
- https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/0sCRbbouT90?rel=0
to
- https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/0sCRbbouT90?rel=0&youtube_privacy=true
- frame 2 URL changed from
- https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/0sCRbbouT90?rel=0&modestbranding=1
to
- https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/0sCRbbouT90?rel=0&youtube_privacy=true&modestbranding=1
- frame 3 URL changed from
- https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/0sCRbbouT90?rel=0
to
- https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/0sCRbbouT90?rel=0&style=display%3A+block%3B+margin-left%3A+auto%3B+margin-right%3A+auto%3B&youtube_privacy=true
I'll try to attach some screen shots of what I'm seeing here, but hopefully just this description is enough to go on...
I'm curious if you can see the same thing just adding a random youtube frame with JCEPro. Does editing work as expected?
Thanks!
Brian

I modified JCEPro 2.6.33 to add modestbranding as an option. I was going to just add it as a 7th checkbox, but since ShowInfo was deprecated by YouTube after Sept 24 (https://developers.google.com/youtube/player_parameters), I just replaced that option. It works within the JCE editor like the other parameters, and allows setting a default in the profile.
This wouldn't;t be my first choice, as we'll have to maintain those changes whenever you update JCE, but it makes a big difference in our workflow to have it in there so it's worth the effort for now. Let me know if you'd like me to send you my changes for inclusion in a future version.
We're still interested in seeing this work as a built-in option, so let me know you'd like me to look at betas again or anything else that might help you out.
Thanks much!

Please try JCE Pro 2.6.34 RC2 - https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/downloads/editor/pro/development/item/jce-pro-dev
This includes you suggestion of replacing the Show Info option with Modest Branding, as well as fixes for the issues above.

Hi Ryan,
Apologies for not getting back sooner, I was traveling this past weekend for Thanksgiving in the US. I should have some free time in the next few days to help you out with this some more!
I installed RC4 from the link above and cleared my Joomla cache, and it seems to be working in the editor now!
There are two spots that still need support for setting a default value for ModestBranding:
- In Admin -> Editor Profiles -> Plugin Parameters -> Media Manager, the last Youtube option still reads "Aggregator Youtube Showinfo" and modifies showinfo instead of modestbranding. See /components/com_jce/editor/extensions/aggregator/youtube.php
line should read 'modestbranding' => (int) $plugin->getParam('aggregator.youtube.modestbranding', 1),
- Same issue with /components/com_jce/editor/extensions/aggregator/youtube.xml , this needs to be updated to use the modestbranding language constants and parameter instead of showinfo.
last entry should read param name="modestbranding" type="list" default="0" label="WF_AGGREGATOR_YOUTUBE_MODESTBRANDING" description="WF_AGGREGATOR_YOUTUBE_MODESTBRANDING_DESC
With those two changes, RC4 is working as my mod does, and the arbitrary params seem to be working correctly too and not duplicating the other options from the editor.
Thank you for adding this!
