When I edit my JCE profile, I can specify a folder to store images. I can use different variables such as $id, $username, etc.
Is it possible to use a variable such as "article id" to store article images to a separate folder?
For example when I create a new article, I get a new empty folder where all article images will be stored.

Unfortunately not, because the article id is only know after the article has been created and saved.
Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean everybody isn't out to get you.
