Hello,
I have a question regarding the JCE Editor in Joomla, which has been on my mind for some time. Would it be possible to set up a feature that converts images (e.g., JPG or PNG) into the WebP format directly during the upload process?

I have already searched the forum but unfortunately couldn't find anything relevant on this topic. Therefore, I wanted to ask if there might be an extension or plugin available for this. Or, perhaps it would be possible to achieve this through an add-on for the JCE Editor? I think such a feature would be very useful to optimize the website's loading time while making the workflow more efficient.

If this question is off-topic, I apologize – I would still appreciate any tips or experiences regarding this issue!

There isn't currently an option to do this within JCE Pro itself, but it may be possible using the JCE and Joomla events system - events are triggered when a file is uploaded - and create a simple system plugin that does the conversion after the file has been uploaded, eg: https://github.com/widgetfactory/wf_filesystem_events

I will run a few experiments on this and let you know in a couple of days. We should be able to find a reasonable solution.
