Hi,
since the last update to version 2.9.83 the code indentation is missing in the source code editor. I can switch on the code indentation via the format button, but this state is not recognized. If I open an article again, the code indentation is missing again.
Is this a bug?

Clear your browser cache after install.
In the Code Editor parametes, set the Format HTML option to No, then save the profile. Go back to the Code Editor parameters and set Format HTML to Yes and save.

That looks good, the error seems to have been fixed. The code is indented again.

but it is strange, i am using the same versions on another project (joomla 5.2.4 and JCE Pro 2983) and it is working fine with the indents...any idea why?

The Format HTML button (or "Code Indent") will still work in JCE Pro 2.9.83 when clicked. The issue that is now resolved is that setting the default state in the Code Editor parameters was not applied, and when clicking the button the state was not "remembered" when switching between the Editor and Code tabs.
