Hello,

I am stuck and unable to solve this problem. I used to embed videos from my local website quite easily not long ago, but this is what happens now. ALl my videos are in a subfolder of the media folder, and the media folder is at the root of my joomla folder (on the same level as the "files" folder)

When I click on the icon in JCE editor in the backend to insert a video into an article, I get the usual browser. However, I cannot have access to my media folder anymore, while I used to. I went into my Editor profiles to check is Root Access was allowed, and yes, it is, and the "media" box is ticked. Yet, I can't see it in the browser (see attachment) while the "files" folder appears. I am now forced to code the full link to the video in the editor code to be able to insert it.

My configuration is:

Joomla Joomla! 5.3.3 Stable

JCE editor Pro 2.9.93

I haven't modified anything as of now. And I can't tell if this is because a newer update of Joomla has modified access to my folders or not. The media folder on my website is set to 755 so admin is allowed all operations.

Thanks for helping me out of this tricky issue.

The "media" box should not be ticked, as if it is then it is restricted.

With the new File Directory Path, you no longer need to use Allow Root Access to get access to these folders. You can now create multiple File Directory Path items for each folder on the same level, eg: media, images, files etc.

Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean everybody isn't out to get you.

Thanks for answering so fast.

I unticked (stupid me) the box, thinking it would fix the problem. Yet, the media folder does not appear.

I left the root access but added the media path the way you showed.

Path: media

Label: Media

Yet, the media folder is still unavailable. :-(

What should I do?

After  a minor modification on your site - I deleted the empty File Directory Path item - this appears to be working correctly. Please confirm.

As usual, fast and efficient support.

Yet, could you tell me what you modified and where so if that happened again, I would be able to solve it on my own?

Thanks in advance!

This is fixed in JCE Pro 2.9.94 RC - https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/downloads/editor/pro/development

JCE Pro 2.9.94 should be released later this week.
