Hi there,
I tried to insert a link to a PDF file which I uploaded in the "files" folder in the media manager, but this folder isn't shown in the File Browser. Why and what can I do?

By default the filesystem will use the Joomla images folder, if no other folders are specified.
The Joomla files folder is not a sub-folder of the images folder, so it cannot be accessed from within the images folder.
You can however specify multiple folders to access in Editor Profiles -> Editor Parameters -> Filesystem, by setting each folder's path and an optional label, eg:
