Hi,
I installed Img manager extended on a site, of which the content is edited by my customer. I use the image resize option which works fine when it comes to the image dimensions. However, I noticed that my customer are uploading pictures from their camera with a 180 dpi resolution. So although the dimensions of the image suggest that the file is processed ok, the file size (and as a result the loading time for the end user) could be much improved. I could not find a way to force a 72 dpi resolution on upload using Img manager extd. Would this be possible somehow?
Kind regards, Frits

Only if your server has the PHP IMagick extension installed, and only after the next Image Manager Extended update!
It will be a global option in the Image Manager Extended parameters (applied to all uploaded images)
Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean everybody isn't out to get you.
In my tests, resizing an image on upload sets the resolution to 72dpi (this is using PHP IMagick in the current version of Image Manager Extended).
I have tested this on the demo site with the same result.

Hi Ryan,
It is working indeed, thanks.
Yet I do have some questions after testing the resize option with different images. Please keep in mind that I am setting up image uploading for a group of relatively non-tech authors/editors on my site.
1.
In the upload dialog window there's a checkbox with which you can choose to resize the uploaded image(s). Can I set the default state of this checkbox to 'selected'? I'm afraid that users will forget to check this box.
2.
It seems to me that the resize function will not enlarge images that are smaller than the set dimensions. Is this correct? (I think this is also the way it shoud be, I just want to make sure).
3.
There is an option that suggests that I can choose to preserve width-height aspect ratio or not (a link icon). However it seems to me that this function will not force an image into a different ratio, eg. it wont make a wide screen picture square. Is this correct? (again I think this is also the way it shoud be, I just want to make sure).
4.
Uploading a small portrait orientated picture works fine, but when uploading a large portrait image it will be rotated counter clockwise so it has a landscape width-height ratio. Resizing the image on upload seems not to change this. Is there a way to solve this (apart from rotating the resulting picture 90 degrees back)?
Kind regards, Frits

You can set Resize to be set on by default in the Image Manager Extended parameters, and also hide the options.

Correct, images cannot be enlarged.

The link icon sets the calculation of the width and height values to be proportional, so changin one value changes the other.

Is this an image that has been taken on an iPhone?

Hi Ryan,
Thanks for your answers. About this one:
No, it comes from a Nikon D80 camera.
