This looks like the result of a permissions issue.

You will need to manually delete the folders using an FTP client or File Explorer in your hosting control panel.

The folders to remove are:

administrator/components/com_jce
components/com_jce
media/jce
plugins/content/jce
plugins/editors/jce
plugins/extension/jce
plugins/fields/mediajce
plugins/installer/jce
plugins/quickicon/jce
plugins/system/jce

I am not able to install any version of JCE on your site, including older versions, either using the Upload and Install, Install From Web or Install From URL methods.

No errors are generated when I attempt to install, the page just reloads.

This suggests to me that there is some mechanism on the site that is preventing the install. Please contact your hosting provider about this.

The technician who checked the server sent me the following message:

The error

[Wed Aug 03 18:56:23.814702 2022] [fcgid:warn] [pid 36335] [client 94.231.194.204:53181] mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught JDatabaseExceptionExecuting: Table '#__users' was not locked with LOCK TABLES in /home/pliroforiodotis/public_html /libraries/joomla/database/driver/mysqli.php:668, referer: https://pliroforiodotis.gr/administrator/index.php?option=com_installer&view=install

root@server:~# mysql --version
mysql Ver 8.0.30-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 for Linux on x86_64 ((Ubuntu))
root@server:~#

The technician told me that you should:

You should add 2 queries to their installer code

a lock table to users after they read what they want

And an unlock at the end

Ryan
JCE is installed using the Joomla Installer, and does not itself access the users table during the install process.

A fatal error would display a white screen, but this does not happen during the install.

Do you have another site you can test the install on?

On another site, the installation was done normally (it has a different mysql). The problem is probably just me and I couldn't find what is wrong. On mine, with mysql Ver 8.0.30, the installation does not proceed, as you have seen.

And the K2 app I tried to install and had the same problem.

I have been using jce for many years. After an upgrade, it stopped installing new upgrades. I uninstalled it to fix the problem and was never able to install it again.

Ryan
I use the official Joomla Launch platform - https://launch.joomla.org - as a benchmark for testing installation and other basic processes. This uses MySQL 5.7.38. Most Joomla installations I have seen use MySQL 5.6+. The other site you tested on probably uses MySQL 5.x
