How do I limit the buttons available in the editor for certain users? I created a new profile and assigned it to the user. I thought I limited the buttons but they all show up when I log in as that user.
What am I doing wrong?

I created a new profile and assigned it to the user.
Make sure this profile is ordered above the "Default" profile, ie: first in the list. You can do this with the Ordering option in the Setup tab of the profile, or by drag / drop re-ordering of the profiles list - https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/support/documentation/profiles/profiles-ordering
Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean everybody isn't out to get you.
