In the media and image manager settings and editor settings I can set multiple folders as locations where a user is allowed to upload images. They can serve as shortcuts for admins, who are allowed to all content in de images/ folder.
But this only seems to work for images uploaded in the editor itself, that is within the text of the article. I would like to have the same structure set up when you upload the article header image. (via the Images and links tab) Here multiple folders doesn't seem to work. It will always take you to the highest level allowed, if your settings are nested, or to the first folder defined, if folders are not nested.

Thank you for your answer. There reason I'm asking this, is that on one site we have authors and editors. The authors can be restricted to their own folder, but the editors should have access to everything. Even though I try to educate my editors to upload images in orderly way, they still dump most of the images in the root folder. Thus everything is becoming a mess… That's why I has hoping to enforce a structure in the media manager.

This may change in Joomla 3.x.

I suspect you mean JCE 3. Joomla 3 reached its end of life some years ago. 😉

Sorry for re-opening this : just to be sure, until JCE 3 we can't easily give acces to media/templates/sites/xxxx/images without giving access to root and filtering ALL the other folders etc ?
