I set up the responsify plugin to "Click to play" so that the content is only show after the user wants it. It used to work, today I updated to the latest version and now I don't see the call to action anymore, there is just a big white space instead of something that the user can click to show the video.

how can I fix this?

I realized what the error was! The plugin was assigned to a menu, I thought this option is to be able to link to the privacy policy. if this assignment is removed it works again
