Media Support

The Media Support option enables support for the tags required to embed various non-image media types, such as audio, video and iframe based media such as Youtube video.

Media Support is enabled by default, and can be enabled or disabled by checking the Media Support box in the Additional Features section in Editor Profiles -> Features & Layout.

Enable the Media Support option

Media Support must be enabled for the Media Manager and IFrame plugins. Additional options may need to be set in Joomla to enable support for iframe tags.

Media Support can be configured in Editor Profiles -> Plugin Parameters -> Media Support. Parameters are available to enable or disable the supported tags, and in the case of Iframes, set validation conditions for iframe content.

Parameter Options

Allow IFrames

Allow IFrame elements to be included in content.

  • Select No to remove any iframes in content and to prevent iframes being added to content.
  • Select Yes to allow any content to be loaded in an iframe.
  • Local Content Only will only allow content from your site.
  • Local Content and Supported Media Only will allow content from your site and content from the selected media providers, or from any Custom URLs you set. For example, setting a Custom URL value of https://docs.joomla.org would allow iframe content from https://docs.joomla.org/Main_Page, https://docs.joomla.org/Portal:Learn_More etc.
