I have a lot of users who will be uploading a lot of images. I have set the resize parameters to create manageable sizes but i would like the original image to be removed (deleted) from the server. Is this possible please?

This is not currently possible. As processing is done on the server after the image is uploaded, the original image is required for other processing (thumbnailing, watermarking etc.) before resizing is done, which is itself then performed on the original image for each resize set that you have specified.
I'm looking into the best way to enable removing of the original image without adding an extra parameter option.

The original image would have been resized using the first of these size sets, but only if you did not set a suffix for each image resize set. If each resize set includes a suffix, then a copy of the original image is made for each, and the original is retained.
