The captions on images in the articles is gone, after migrating to Joomla 4.4.0. I cant tell if it happend from J3 to J4 or later. Using JCE Pro I used to add captions in the Image Manager i choosed the "Advanced" page and wrote the captions in "ID" field. I also wrote CAPTIONS in Class field. The captions also disapeared from intro image and full article image, but that was fixed by support of Joomlart, who made the template JaGood. But they are argumenting images inside the article is not a part of the template. You can see it on
https://sittbrunnen.se/bloggar/curres-blogg/2442-tva-svenska-spetsbatar-utvalda
where first image is a full article image, with captions, and the second image is without captions. You can see the text on hover over on both. There is no difference if I switch to Cassiopeja template. Do you understand if this is an issue with JCE Editor, Joomla or with the template?
Image spets: Captions on the first "Full Article Image", but not on the second
Image spets2: The settings in the image manager

Is this JCE or Joomla? I got the answer on this question fro Joomla Extensions, Dénes Székely (a.k.a. Yoda Professor): Contact directly the extension owner for technical support, or post this as a review if the owner does not react to your request.

This is a Joomla issue, as Joomla 4 no longer supports caption generation using a "caption" class added to an image.

I have made a "JCaption Migrate" plugin that will create captions for existing images using the Joomla 4 caption method - https://github.com/widgetfactory/jcaption-migrate

Thanks
I have installed j-caption-migrate. Should I run it in some way?
And how do I make captions for my new images in Joomla 4?

You need to enable the plugin in System -> Manage -> Plugins.

And how do I make captions for my new images in Joomla 4?

JCE can make "figure" style captions, similar to those used in Joomla 4, eg:

https://cdn.joomlacontenteditor.net/images/news/2921/figure-updates.gif

You can also use the JCE Captions tool to create style captions, or edit existing "figure" captions - https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/support/documentation/captions/creating-a-caption

Strange. I do not find thoose buttons and the only thing I see is "Write a caption" under the marked image.
But when I try to write text, it is only plain <p>-text.

And it looks like all captions on intr images have been doubled. Guess it is the jcaption-migration?

The Captions button is a Pro button which you can add to the editor toolbar - https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/support/faq/editor/pro-buttons-missing-after-upgrade

I have updated the plugin to skip existing captions - https://github.com/widgetfactory/jcaption-migrate/releases/tag/1.0.2

Thanks, found the button. Can I set the captions default values in the editor?

What do I do with 1.0.3? Just install? Should I delete the old one first, or just install?
Will it delete the double captions?

Just install. It won't delete existing captions, but will prevent duplicates.
